Vireo move

Finally had a day off to do a little work on the boat.  It was getting far too claustrophobic and dusty in the basement, so chose the decent weather to move the boat to the garage where sanding is much more pleasant.
The windows pop out in under 5 minutes, and the boat is very easy to slide out the window frame.  A short haul on my back, and it is now in the garage ready for glass.

I did spend an hour sanding the boat and the glass lies very fair on the hull.  This will look great when done.  Epoxy is sitting in a warm spot hoping for a nice day Friday.

A minor celebration of sorts

here is a minor celebration of sorts. Looks like all the parts fit!!!

I was a little worried when frame 9 was shorter than the upper sides, but all is ok and this will look like a boat when all is said and done.  there is nothing so far off that a little work with the rasp and some filler cant cure.

Looking forward to vacation next week, as I should have time to finish the basic build.

Next weekend will install the stem and transom for real once all is line up well.

Michalak Vireo build

Purchased 3 sheets of 6mm Okoume to start the project.  This is 5 ply BS1088 stuff

and should be durable as long as it is kept painted.  Will be glassing the exterior and perhaps the interior as well.  Although, do not want to add too much weight as this is to be a car topper.

5 mm ply can also be used, and Boulter did have it in 5 ply despite their web site stating it was 3 ply.

Will
lay out the panels tomorrow.
